Spring Serenity: Fresh Ideas for the Season

It's that wonderful time of year once more: the snow has melted, the cheerful melodies of morning birds fill the air, and even a mere +10 degrees Celsius feels pleasantly mild. After enduring what has been deemed the darkest season in 80 years, winter in Canada seemed especially long this time around. I think it’s safe to say that our collective yearning for spring has never been more pronounced. So, join me today as we indulge in that longing and celebrate the arrival of this much-awaited season.

As nature's colours bloom and the sun brings warmth to our days, spring brings with it a renewed sense of life and rejuvenation. For me, spring symbolizes the perfect opportunity to embrace this notion of renewal by infusing our homes with the beauty of the season. Let’s discover three key things you can do to breathe new life into your space, revitalizing it for the joyous season that lies ahead.

Declutter & Streamline

After a long winter of being cooped up indoors, our homes could use a little TLC. When it comes to creating a serene and harmonious atmosphere in your home, decluttering reigns supreme as the ultimate game-changer. It's the single most powerful action you can take to cultivate a sense of tranquility and balance within your living space.

Take advantage of the spring season to declutter and reorganize your home. Let go of unnecessary items and tidy up your surfaces to create a sense of openness. While you’re at it, embrace the notion of spring cleaning. By reorganizing and giving everything a thorough scrub, you'll create a space that not only looks pristine but also uplifts your spirits and brings a sense of harmony to your daily life. When we reset our space, we create room for fresh energy.

Bring the Outdoors In

One of the most captivating aspects of spring is watching the flowers bloom and new buds form on the trees. Welcome the beauty of the outside world into your home by incorporating elements of nature into your space. Place bouquets of tulips, daffodils, or cherry blossoms on your dining table or in the entryway to invigorate your home while adding a sweet, subtle fragrance.

When styling our projects for a photoshoot, one element we always incorporate is fresh greenery. There’s nothing that makes a space feel as lively and vibrant as simply adding a vase full of freshly snipped flowers or spindly branches. By giving your home the same level of love and care we put into our photoshoots, your home will become your very own sanctuary.

Spring is also the perfect time to develop your green thumb both in the garden and inside. Employ biophilic design strategies by potting houseplants like ferns, peace lilies, or English ivy to purify the air and infuse your home with a calming, natural energy. If you're unsure about your plant-parenting abilities, opt for a snake plant. Even after five years of occasional neglect, my snake plant remains incredibly healthy and resilient.

Refresh Your Decor

As nature awakens the world around us, we can mirror this transformation within our living space, embracing a lighter and brighter aesthetic that celebrates the season. Swap out those heavy, cozy accents of winter for lighter fabrics and playful patterns that reflect the season's spirit. Make small yet impactful changes that breathe new life into your home. Consider changing your bedding to fabrics like linen or cotton in soft, tonal or even pastel shades. Try introducing a pop of colour by safely experimenting with accent cushions or throws,

In the spirit of spring, I’ve curated a collection of décor finds that are bound to revitalize any space. From organic textures to soothing accents, these carefully selected pieces serve as the perfect antidote to the lingering traces of winter.
